Effective Presentations

This free online course on presentation skills is designed for anyone who wants to communicate more effectively through presentations in a professional setting, including beginners with little or no prior experience.

The course provides practical guidance on how to design, structure, and deliver clear and engaging presentations. Participants will learn how to identify their audience, develop key messages, organise content effectively, and use visuals and verbal communication techniques to enhance impact. The course also explores strategies for confident delivery, audience engagement, and managing presentation challenges in professional environments.

This course is available in English, Portuguese and Russian. The course duration is 2 hours.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
LO1 Identify and analyse target audiences to inform presentation design and delivery
LO2 Develop clear and focused key messages aligned with audience needs and presentation objectives
LO3 Explain how to structure presentations for clarity, flow, and impact
LO4 Describe how to design and use visuals and presentation materials effectively
LO5 Explain verbal and non-verbal communication techniques that support effective presentation delivery
LO6 Describe strategies for engaging audiences and managing interaction during presentations
LO7 Explain how to prepare for and deliver presentations with confidence and professionalism

This course was produced as part of the Aga Khan Foundation’s Civil Society programme.

The course can be completed as an online-only course or in a blended format where learners first watch the videos and then engage in a synchronous in-person session. A Facilitator Guide is available for download for the synchronous in-person session.
