Organisational Strategy Development

Duration: 3.5 hours

General Course Outline:

This free course is aimed at civil society organisations as part of their organisational strengthening and planning processes, and builds an overall understanding of what strategy is and how to develop, adapt and measure its evolving success.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

LO1 Explain what an organisational strategy is and why having one matters

LO2 Define your organisation’s mission, vision, and values

LO3 Understand how to develop and implement an organisational strategy

LO4 Describe how to assess your organisation’s current position using tools such as historical scans, trend analysis, and SWOT

LO5 Explain how to prepare for strategic planning, including stakeholder engagement and establishing a planning process

LO6 Describe how to translate strategic priorities into action plans with clear activities, timelines, and responsibilities

LO7 Explain how to monitor, communicate, and adapt your strategic plan to support effective implementation and organisational performance

The course can be completed in a blended format by first completing the video lessons, and then enrolling in a synchronous in-person workshop. A Facilitator Guide is available for the workshop and templates and tools are available for download.
