Climate Resilience Snapshots – Regenerative Farming
This “Snapshot” document describes the importance of regenerative farming and its benefits to farmers, communities, and soil health. Part of the Aga Khan Foundation’s (AKF) work on building climate-resilient communities, the approach to regenerative farming described in this “Snapshot” is locally rooted in communities’ needs, gradual and flexible, and weaves indigenous knowledge with agronomic science.
This “Snapshot” highlights the seven principles of regenerative farming, namely:
1) 100% use of local and natural inputs,
2) tree integration,
3) livestock integration,
4) optimised water and energy use,
5) maximised biodiversity through multiple crop associations and rotations,
6) minimised greenhouse gas emissions, and
7) minimised soil disturbance.
