Relva bana

Hoje em dia, muitos agricultores lutam para cultivar o suficiente para alimentar seus animais – porque as suas terras são muito pequenas, não são férteis o suficiente, não são irrigadas o suficiente, ou simplesmente porque o clima tornou-se tão imprevisível.

Mas existe uma planta incrível, chamada relva bana, que não é invasiva e é geneticamente estável. Esta investe toda a sua energia na produção das suas folhas exuberantes. É uma planta que pode viver por muito tempo e crescer rapidamente – com cuidados mínimos. Tudo isso a torna ideal para o cultivo e alimentação de animais.

Este breve vídeo instrutivo explica os benefícios e características da relva bana e explica aos agricultores como eles podem plantá-la, cuidar dela, colhê-la e alimentá-la aos seus animais.

This free training video in Portuguese was developed for farmers in East Africa who are looking for better ways to grow fodder to feed their animals by cultivating bana grass.

By the time they complete this practical training video, farmers will be able to:

• Describe the unique properties of bana grass,
• Describe the advantages of bana grass as fodder for livestock,
• Explain the step-by-step process of planting, caring for, and harvesting bana grass, and
• Describe the optimal way of feeding bana grass to animals as fodder.
