Le docteure de l’île : Transformer la santé maternelle en Tanzanie

La Dre Simiyu est chef de maternité du seul hôpital de l’île d’Ukerewe, en Tanzanie. Lorsque son équipe n’a pas la formation ou les outils nécessaires pour aider un patient, ils doivent l’envoyer sur le continent pour se faire soigner. Grâce à une nouvelle formation et à de nouveaux équipements, la Dre Simiyu est désormais en mesure de fournir des soins plus spécialisés aux femmes et aux enfants de l’île, et de guider ses collègues à l’hôpital.

Dr. Simiyu is the head of the maternity ward at the only hospital on Ukerewe Island in Tanzania. When Dr. Simiyu and her colleagues don’t have the training or tools they need to help a patient, they have to send the patient to the mainland for treatment. Thanks to new training and equipment, Dr. Simiyu is now able to provide more specialized care to women and children on the island, and mentor her colleagues at the hospital.
