This document presents a short historical overview of the Aga Khan Foundation’s work in Madagascar. AKF’s engagement in Madagascar started in 2005 with a rice intensification programme, which was further diversified in 2010. In 2012, an agro-ecological programme was introduced. In 2015, partnerships with the private sector and value chain development was initiated. In 2018, the programme was broadened to link the work in agriculture with health, education, the environment, and civil society.
