Promoting Inclusion in Teaching and Learning – Resource Pack
The Promoting Inclusion in Teaching and Learning Resource Pack was developed with a view to promote inclusive education in mainstream schools in Pakistan, to support teachers who need support in addressing the needs of students with special needs in their mainstream classrooms.
This resource pack includes ten case studies based on the common special needs found in classrooms in Pakistan. While the salient features of each special need have been addressed, teachers may find they need to refer to several of these to address the needs of a single student. For example, for students with learning disability, teachers may refer to the case study on ‘Behaviour Disability’, in addition to the one on ‘Learning Disability’.
The authors of the Resource Pack have drawn upon actual case studies and their experience of working with children with special needs. Each scenario is an amalgamation of several case studies the authors and their students have worked on in their past practice. Different formats have been used for describing ‘Assessment Reports’ and ‘Individualised Education Plans’. This approach has been used to familiarise teachers using the pack with diverse formats, and to emphasise the fact that inclusion is a process which has to be tailored to the unique needs of individuals.
The names and case details have been changed to protect the identity of children. Featured photographs do not point towards the identity of specific children.
